Phil,
I finally got the Mercury Board reprogramed! I tried three computers  
in the process, but the final success came when I took off a number of  
little used programs on the computer that I was using first. Too much  
software!
Now I am running with the Atlas 10 MHz clock source, an HP reference  
osc., and the Mercury 122.88 MHz clock. Using the Penny 122.88MHz  
clock brings the popping back JP8 is off Mercury, so I will stay with  
the Penny or Atlas 10 MHz clocks.
