Have you ever worked on an open source project? So yo spend
months writing code and then it gets out intouser's hands. Then
you are spending all hours answering e-mail and solveing 20
different peoples "how do i install this?" problems and then the
"This is OK but can you make it do X". Very much the same
thing really.

Nothing wrong with making money off Open Source code.
Sun and Apple do it to the tuns of billions of dollars. As
a practical matter you can make more by giving it away.
Sell 10 copies and you have $100 but give away 1,000
copies and now you have the reputatin of being the
expert in the fiel and you can leverage that for more
then $100 return. An yes the different between
$10 and free means distributing 10 vs. 1000 copies.
