But is a 16-bit fixed point processor.  Used very carefully, it can do a 
lot.  But you end up focusing on the details of the chip instead of the 
objective of the algorithm.  If you want more than 96 dB of 
at-the-instant dynamic range, it won't do it -- and the 96 dB implies 
lots of quantization noise for low level signals which adds it own 
artifacts to the recovered audio
