[hpsdr] Forward Error Correction Module?

It is my understanding that forward error correction (FEC) is totally a software function.  It is a fancy algorithm to so some mathematical manipulations with the data sent so that it is able to not only detect that there was an error but also correct the bit(s) in error.  Very sophisticated to say the least.  It slows throughput very slightly but pretty much guarantees that the data sent is what is received.
