[hpsdr] FPGA's

Registers are memory of course, but in FPGAs they are mainly used
to implement synchronous logic (or arithmetic) circuits.

For istance, a parallel 48 bit synchronous adder, besides some combinatorial
logic which produces 48 asynchronous outputs (the digits of the sum),
requires - not surprisingly - 48 registers.

So far the number of registers in a FPGA gives you a precise idea of how
many
synchronous 1-bit output functions you can implement in a given device.
