Good luck removing Mcafee. I found similar problems a couple years ago and  
had
drastic results removing it. As I recall, I found a hidden file for  
uninstall, and that 
did cure things here.

Hi All,
My net provider just gave out free use of Mcafee. I sometimes put  the shack 
computer on line so loaded and set it loose. This really  trashes HPSDR. Penny 
glitches to full power every few seconds. Cut outs  in RX at all sample 
frequencies. Setting priority doesn't help. 
I'm real close to deleting it. Norton never was a problem. CPU is  running 
under 10%. 
This could be the reason some users have more problem than others.  frank
