did no one actually read my clarification before going on about things 
that i had already answered, i was proposing 2 separate "normal" rx's + 
the band scope, also the frequency+amplitude data of band scope would 
make it possible to decode cw am and fm modes (including fsk etc if the 
band scope resolution was high enough) but the lack of phase info would 
render ssb or phase modulated modes impossible to demodulate on the band 
scope and would require a rx.
