Hello John and Alberto,
Thanks for your replies all understood. The idea of an independent sub receiver is great, particularily if that could be made to transmit as well.
What I'd like to be able to do is monitor a set band (could be ssb portion of 2m via a transverter) and be able to spot new signals or monitor existing ones and then instantly click tune them in and work them whilst still watching the original band segment for other stations.. If the whole panadpater shifts around during the process it kind of messes it all up.

Looking at your blog John, you suggest that ghpsdr would run on a softrock? I have a clone that is freely tuned using an si-570 and currently use a version of powersdr modifed by sv1eai to operate it. There is a dll that interfaces to the si-570 via an sdr-kits controller to allow it to tune.

Alberto,
I have tried winrad and its very good on rx, but I need the tx capability as well. By the way for some reason your email was split up and referenced by a url???

Thanks both,
Andrew
