Hi Mike,
   Some answers--
(1) I believe that higher numbered versions of dot Net are add-ons, so
their presence on your machine
won't be a problem.

(2) The .../branches/kd5tfd/PennyMerge/bin/Release version of PowerSDR
will always be the latest. It will
have the latest Ozy firmware and FPGA files, which PowerSDR will load at
startup.

(3) The current PowerSDR does support Excalibur--check the Excalibur
box on the Hardware Config tab of Setup.

(4) The batch file used to program Mercury,
"Program-Mercury-EPCS16.bat" has several options for selecting
which version of Quartus to use. The whole point of the selection is to
set the directory where quartus_pgm.exe
can be found. If you look at the batch file, you'll see, at about the
middle some lines beginning
SET DIRECTORY=
You can check that one of those directories matches the actual path of
quartus_pgm.exe on your computer.
If one is correct, use that option when you run the batch file.
Otherwise, change the statement in the batch file.
I have several versions of Quartus installed, but I always use the 8.1
version because the batch file has a matching path

(5) You do not need a license for the Altera software.

(6) There was a change in the Atlas bus lines used by Mercury and Ozy
(maybe more than one change). The latest set
of code will be consistent.

(7) After the first Mercury is programmed, turn off power to Atlas,
replace that Mercury with your second, and repeat the
programming procedure. When you turn off power, Ozy will "forget" how
to be a USB-blaster clone, but, with power
re-applied, the batch file will re-load the blaster clone program into Ozy.
Note--you'll need to connect the Last JTAG
jumper on each Mercury while you're programming it.

(8) You only need to program Mercury with the latest version. You do
not need to load any older versions. When you
run the programming batch file it completely erases any previous content
stored on Mercury.

(9) All Janus, Mercury and Penelope code is in the one SVN directory,
with the batch files.

(10) If you are using the batch files and code files in the
USBBlaster-Binaries folder, which use Ozy as a USB Blaster
to program Mercury, the resistor change on Mercury is not important.
--the change is needed only when using an FPGA programmer connected
directly to the JTAG header on Mercury.
