The high speed FPGA to FPGA Megafunction I was thinking of is SERDES 
and uses an LVDS comms connection.

It appears to be supported on both the Cyclone II and III.

Given its LVDS based then perhaps a simple twisted pair, or two coax 
cables, could be use to link between Mercury and Ozy.

Anyone have any experience in doing this?
