Got it! Sorry. My finger-wagging urge got the better of me. You're exactly
right about this. Putting together a single, clean hw/sw *package* will be a
big, big step forward.

On that issue, yes: the Atom 330 looks really good so far. I wonder whether
anybody is putting together a system using SSD rather than spinning
hardware.

The exact distro is a little less important, but it's really important for
it to be able to support the Avant WIndow Navigator, screenlets and Google
Gadgets, etc. That would probably be simpler with 8.10 and newer rather than
LTS.

The reason I was quick to react negatively is that I've been looking closely
at a comprehensive OS X port. A lot of where we'd like to be GUI-wise in a
few months is already part of SOP there.
