Hi Henry,

You don't need an OS (in the same way that you don't need to have a 
particular OS on your remote USB printer or remote Web Cam). At the PC 
end there is a driver to to make that TCP/IP traffic look like USB.  I 
don't see a big problem with this as long as it has sufficient performance.
