[hpsdr] New Versions and Practices Regarding PowerSDR

I see on the Flex reflector today that Gerald has indicated a new
emerging policy regarding third party add-on components in PowerSDR
distributions from FlexRadio.

"Since the integration of new PowerSDR features such as Pretty Betty,
skins to support Pretty Betty and a host of other add-on components, the
increased software complexity has made it more difficult for FlexRadio
to manage the SVN trunk. To this end, we are working directly with a
number of open source contributors of add-on components such as those
from the HPSDR group to separate their code from the SVN trunk. This
does not represent a change in support as each component has always and
will continue to be directly supported by its respective creators. This
change reduces the administrative overhead for FlexRadio from these
components and also reduces the size of the download for individuals not
using the specific components."

In any event, a few questions come to mind:

1) Can we create a set of "drivers" that can be "linked" to PowerSDR,
perhaps at run time, so that an SDR-1000 owner with Ozy+Janus can run
future versions of PwerSDR?

2) Similarly, can we create a "driver" such that Ozy+Mercury+Penny
(+Alex+PennyWhistle) can be run with the latest and future PowerSDR
versions without having to re-compile?

3) If a re-compile is required, can this then be distributed by other
than FlexRadio?

I am probably using the wrong technical terms -- PC software is not my
forte -- and misunderstanding the announcement, but hopefully I am
expressing my questions in an understandable way!
