Hi All,

I have gotten Bob Cowdery's Acorn working across the network here, using
the Ubuntu Linux operating system [8.10, x86_64]. Both control and
audio work fine over the LAN here.

I have used it with both the SDR-1000 and Mercury.

Acorn nicely demonstrates the use of independent processes working in
distributed fashion over the network. It is the first over-the-network
Linux software for the SDR1000 or Mercury that I have actually gotten to
work over the network here.

The install was simple except for an issue due to my using a 64 bit
kernel that I have had with most SDR-software installs. So I had to
remake the ozy driver for 64 bits and fiddle with an .so file or two.
Additionally, one needs to have py-jack installed.

Bob has an EXCELLENT set of instructions and explanatory text at Google
Code:

and I put some notes at:

http://www.nitehawk.com/w3sz/dttspw3sz.htm#Bob

and for setting things up to work across the network at:

Enjoy!
