Hello Graham and all other HPSDR friends!

Primilary I will thank all of you who gave me feedback and thought
impulses to experiment with the hardware setup of my HPSDR.
To start: My setup with Ozy, Mercury and Penelope (Production by Gerd
Lorch) ist still not working.
This evening I had the time to test several setups – overall I made 7
different which I will list below to give you an overview.
It would be great to get your thougths and help to find a way to run my
setup...

General setup:
- PC: MacBookPro, 2.4. Ghz, 2 GB RAM
- OS: Win XP Home, SPII
- PowerSDR: Version January 10 2009, V 1.10.4+BaseSVN2025
- Mercury: TAPR production (Ordered December 2008) – factory firmware
- Ozy: TAPR production
- Penny: Gerd Loch production (Feb 2009) – factory firmware

Setup 1:
- Order of boards: Ozy J2, Penny J3, Mercury J5
- Sampling rate: 192k = Panorama showed few amplitudes, sometimes
indication of ADC overload
- Sampling rate changed to 96k = „normal“ frequency spectrum visible
- In both cases no audio, just clicking noises
- After closing PowerSDR I heard still clicking noises

Setup 2:
- Removing Penny
- Order of boards: Ozy J2, Mercury J5
- Sampling Rate 192k
- Result: Perfect audio, no ADC overload

Setup 3:
- Order of boards: Penny J1, Ozy J2, Mercury J5
- Sampling rate: 192k
- Result: Increased clicking noises, ADC overload indication, panorama
showed a few amplitues
- Changed sampling rate to 96k = panoram view showed „normal“ frequency
spectrum, no audio

Setup 4:
- Order of boards: Penny J1, Ozy J2, Mercury J5
- 10Mhz clock active at Mercury
- Sampling rate 192k = hang-up of PowerSDR
- Lowering sampling rate to 96k = no audio just clicking noises

Setup 5:
- Order of boards: Ozy J2, Penny J3, Mercury J5
- 10Mhz clock active at Mercury
- Sampling rate 96k
- Result: After running PowerSDR audio for 3 seconds

Setup 6:
- Order of boards: Ozy J2, Penny J4, Mercury J5
- Sampling rate 96k
- Result: After running PowerSDR audio for 5 seconds, even frequency
change in panorma is possible

Setup 7:
- Order of boards: Ozy J2, Penny J4, Mercury J5
- 10Mhz clock active at Mercury
- Sampling rate 96k
- Result: After running PowerSDR audio for 2 seconds
-

I’m looking forward to your feedback.
