would i be right in thinking that the power is used in the following ways

12v - alex header
5v - 10mhz lo, pa
3v3d - all the digital stuff except
1v2d - the rest of the digital
3v3a - the front end
3v3ltc - the adc

does the alex header really need the 12 volt from here or could it get 
it from somwere else,

otherwise why not use a switching regulator to get the 5 volt and use 
linear on the analogue 3v3

or run the board off 5 volt and use a dc-dc to get the 12 volt
