That is what interests me too. I have been developing for the USRP2 platform and writing a Blog about it (warts and all).
Digital ATV which is what I am currently working on is a rather obscure part of the hobby but DSP wise it is fairly simple.

My previous comments were meant to be slightly sarcastic about start-ups, I forgot my sense of humour does not translate too well
on mailing lists.

I agree with the comments from other developers, money isn't it, I think the best thing is to publicise what you are doing as much 
as
possible in the hope you will spark interest in someone somewhere than enjoys coding and don't be a mushroom.
