[hpsdr] Question on SDR-1000

New ham trying to get back in the "hobby" after 40+ years out so need obi-wan to help me "channel the force".  

I'm sure I'll eventually be able to determine this by searching the web but to speed the process up:

I'm looking at buying an SDR-1000 and am interested in finding out if that product in any way ties into the hpsdr products??  One web page I read said that the 1000 worked very well with Atlas, janus, ozzy.  Is that the case and how do they interrelate?  Does it plug in the Atlas some how?  

Any help/guidance appreciated.
