[hpsdr] ghpsdr on virtual machine

I am trying to run ghpsdr on  Ubuntu 64 bit 10.04 running as a virtual
machine (VM workstation) on windows 7. The computer is  a laptop  with an i7
Q720 @1.6 Ghz 6G memory. Using Mercury and Penelope  receiving CW I am
getting a buzz instead of a tone. On transmit the output is spread.  The
system works fine when  using a computer with Ubuntu 64 bit 10.04 as the
primary operating system. 

 

Is the problem likely to be  the result of using VM or could I have made
some other mistake on installation.
