Technically speaking, anyone who wants to grab the designs off of the site can produce as many as they want and sell them commercially.

There are some things in the works right now to try to get a supplier other than Gerd to provide boards to the community (not that Gerd is a bad supplier or anything, it's just that with exchange rates right now, US customers tend to get sticker shock).  I am keenly aware that there are quite a few folks who would really like to get involved with the project, but are prevented from doing so by the lack of hardware.  It's one of my priorities to get this problem solved, and sooner rather than later.  Unfortunately, I don't have anything to currently tell you other than "stay tuned."
