Hi Georg,
No, there's nothing special about using Alex filters with two Mercury
(RX) boards and one Penelope (TX) board.
The Alex T/R relay on each TX Alex board provides protection for each
Mercury board when in TX mode; you need two Alex TX/RX filter sets if
you run two Mercury boards and want bandpass filtering (i.e., HPF and
LPF both), each Mercury is connected to its own Alex TX/RX filter set.
No additional relays are needed if you have at least the TX (LPF)
filter, as that's where the T/R relay is located; refer to the Alex
manual for clarification.
Independent control of the the Tx and Rx antennas used (ant1, ant2, or
ant3 for TX and RX) is provided in PowerSDR via the Setup > Alex
Antenna Ctrl menu (select Alex as being present on the Setup >
Hardware Config menu to be able to see the Alex control menu). These
menus are shown in the Alex user manual. The configuration settings
for Alex are very flexible and versatile, refer to the Alex user manual.
