[hpsdr] KISS updates (v1.1.23)

Dear All,

Thanks to Bill Diaz KC9XG, I've been able to track down a bug that he reported in KISS
where if you attempted the 'fast connect' option (to reconnect to the previous
Metis/Hermes), it could cause an exception if the IP address of the Metis/Hermes had been
changed. This could happen because DHCP leases expired and your switch assigned a
different IP address from previous. Phil, VK6APH has also seen this problem. My network
works differently, and until Bill was able to reproduce under Visual Studio so he could
give me the line number where the problem was occurring, I wasn't able to find a problem
at all. Once he gave me that data, I was able to work backwards and determine what could
have caused the problem, reproduce it thru 'trickery' myself, and fix it. Thanks again to
Bill, who is working to become highly competent, to be able to help the onslaught of
newcomers that we are expecting with the release of Hermes. He has already taken giant
steps in that regard.

Also fixed: 'app.config' was missing from the source, so no one could build what they
downloaded from SVN!

Also fixed: version 1.1.22 called itself 1.1.21 on the title bar when you ran KISS

Because of these bugs, v1.1.21 and v1.1.22 are NOT considered 'stable' releases and have
been removed from the stable release area. After the site refresh tonight, you should be
able to access the latest v1.1.23 installer and such. Everything is current if you use
SVN (or websvn) to access the repository directly.

Keep in mind that if you download KISS source to build, you will be told that there is a
project of type 'wixproj' that cannot be loaded. You can ignore this warning. You cannot
add 'WiX' to your system to build successfully if you are using VS2010 C# Express Edition,
because 'deployment' project types are NOT supported by Express Editions of Visual Studio.
You can delete this project from your solution by right-clicking on the KissKonsoleSetup
project and choosing 'remove'.

Investigation continues on the matter of the FWD/REF (or REV) power readings from Alex,
especially when using an Anan-10 or a Hermes. If you have KISS available and use an
Atlas-based system with transmit and Alex, I'd appreciate hearing whether the power
readings that KISS shows are appropriate for your system. Also, if you are using a Hermes
system with Alex, I'd like to hear the same. Next on the list, where an issue HAS been
reported is using one of the 'full' Apache ANAN-10 systems. That's Abhi's Hermes with
Abhi's ANAN-10 amplifier. Your experiences with any of these three scenarios would be
most appreciated. Your sharing of your results and perceptions will help determine if the
problem is with KISS, or somewhere else.

73,
George Byrkit, K9TRV
