[hpsdr] OCXO or GPSDO for new Hermes?

Hermes has an input for a 10 MHz external reference, so nothing needs to
be done from the HPSDR hardware or software side. These days, there are
such a wide range of GPSDO and similar devices that it's not probably
not cost-effective to develop a new one. For fixed-station use, it's
really hard to beat the surplus Trimble Thunderbolts on eBay -- they
work great and are reasonably priced.
For portable use, it gets a little tougher since for best performance a
GPSDO needs to be at a known location and stationary. Surplus Rbs are
an option although some of them (the cheap FEI-5680s in particular) have
a lot of spurs and cruddy phase noise and thus aren't good for
multiplication to microwaves.
Hope this helps.

John
