Michael, these VHF/UHF coupler are a very bad choice because of no
acceptable frequency response between 2 and 50 MHz (more than 20 dB
difference!). The consequence would be a feed-back adjustment after each
band change. No, Warren has made the procedure very user-friendly and we
shouldn't damage this with unnecessary things.

Dear friends,

If you want to sample transmitted RF and don't want to tie up your Bird
wattmeter, there are tons of nice directional couplers on eBay for cheap.
Probably cheaper than a sniffer slug for the Bird.  Most are VHF/UHF but
this usually means looser (lower) coupling at HF.  Directivity remains good
at low frequencies, too.

Yes, Bird makes sampling plugs for the model 43 Wattmeter (and other line
sampling sections).  The data sheet gives the isolation.
