[hpsdr] Cannot update Mercury/Penelope Firmware

I'm looking for some help!
I updated Metis to latest V2.6b successfully with HPSDR Bootloader V2.0.4.0
Now I'm trying to update Merc & Pene to latest, using Metis and HPSDR 
Bootloader V2.0.4.0
After following instructions on page 18-19 meticulously, with jumpers 
set, I get message:
"HPSDR Bootloader will only write to boards with and ethernet 
connection", and no further action.
(Fortunately Mercury and Penelope still work OK with Ozy/USB)
Any clues?
