John just pick up a cheap scanner and use that for band openings.
I normally have the radio on 50.125 and let the scanner run from
about 45Mhz to 53Mhz. That usually catches everything of interest.

After operating in the ARRL VHF contest on six meters this last weekend
I have been wondering if an added feature to PowerSDR would be useful
(and practical). It seems to me there is a lot more CW operation on 6
meters than there used to be and when conditions are poor a lot of guys
run CW.

Could the software have an option to tune the receiver to the frequency
of the strongest signal as shown in the panoramic display? That way I
could turn the volume up and do other things around the house. When the
band was open and CW signals were coming through I could hear them and
quickly run to the radio.
