[hpsdr] Pardon my ignorance but....TTL to 3.3 level HPSDR Atlas bus

I am trying to use my HP counter 5328A to drive C16, which has an OCXO and
an external 1, 5 and 10MHz output on the back, but TTL level. I want to
drive the C16 pin on the Atlas bus. I know I can use the 74HC04 or 74HC14 as
a buffer in between etc, but of one doesn't have any chips newer than
original 7400 series in their junk box, could I not just put 3 small signal
diodes in series with the output and thusly drop the output to about 3VDC
level? Will 1N4148 or similar be fast enough? I have tons of semis, just
don't have any logic chips. I was going to use a resistive divider but was
advised it may cause ringing. Your thoughts?

Could someone please point me in the right direction to get from TTL to 3.3
level...simply, without use of logic chips, that will drive C16 on the Atlas
bus properly?

Thanks
