[hpsdr] 12v & 5v operation, vers. 1.16 manual seems to be conflicted

I'd like to run Hermes with external 12v and external 5v supplies.

The Hermes User Manual Revision 1.16 seems to conflict itself, and I could
use some clarification.

I've broken down the 'steps' found on top of page 12 of 30:

*For operation from a 12 V DC supply and an external 5 V supply:*

   - connect the ‘positive’ lead of the 12 V supply to pin 1 of J10 and the
‘negative’ lead to pin 2 of J10.
   - Connect the positive lead of the external 5 V supply to pin 4 of J10
and the negative lead connections to pin 3 of J10.
   - Ensure that the jumper on J18 is removed
   - the jumper on J17 is placed on pins 1 and 2
   - *a jumper placed on J21 *
   - and a jumper placed on pins 1 and 2 of J26.

*However on page 10 of 30 the manual says of Jumper J21:*

J21: When a jumper is in place (the default setting) the internal 5 V SMPSU
is enabled and should be
in place when using a 13.8 V or 12 V DC supply for the overall power
requirements of Hermes.
**** The jumper should be removed when an external 5 V supply is used. ****

I'd like to hear either from someone who has run Hermes with external 5v
and external 12v supplies, or someone who knows 100% for certain* how J21
should be in 12v and 5v operation.*
