Skimmer Server does indeed load its own complete FPGA image to the QS1R, and is replaced by the standard image the next time that SDRMAX is started.

Subject: [hpsdr] Can hpsdr fpga firmware be temporarily updated by an application in realtime?

I'm wondering if Hermes/Angelina/... can have an application temporarily
update it's firmware to provide temporary feature just needed for that app
without burning it in to flash?
This seems to be the case (works) for the QS1R SDR when using an app like
CW Skimmer.
I'm hoping this is the case for hpsdr as well since currently version 2.5b for
Hermes limits the number of rcvrs to 5 for Skimmer and version 1.8 allows
up to 7.
Sorry if this has been discussed, I did try to search for answers before asking
here but didn't find any hits.
