Hi All
You don't know why nowadays there are no modular structures transceivers?
For example the following implementation: one main board (backplane) with a
large FPGA, ethernet (maybe usb 3.0) and other interfaces and two
high-speed connector (eg FMC, which are used in Xilinx, 4DSP, etc) to
connect the receiver and transmitter board.
Such design, in my opinion, will improve a situation of the crosstalk on
analog circuits, reduce the number of layers and the size of the PCBs.
In addition, it will be possible to upgrade later to a new transmitters and
receivers without replacing expensive FPGA.
Atlas backplane outdated and no longer actively developed.

Best Regards,
Arseniy Terekhov.
