[hpsdr] 4 independent Rx/Tx

Some of us have already setup stations with 4, or even more independent Rx/Tx band coverage using a variety of means. My current system is composed of some Hermes boards, a Metis/Mecury/Penelpe stack and a Flex-5K. All driving transverters to get full time panadapters / waterfalls on 50, 144, 222, and 432 bands simultaneously. After running it for about a year and a half now, I can't even imagine wanting to operate the weak signal parts of those bands in any other way.

In my case running 192 kHz on each of those bands is sufficient, though on 50 MHz more than that would be useful. So the really wide coverage the Crimson offers isn't particularly important. Though I suppose if it could be setup to cover the entire 2M band for example, and feed some 'N' number of Rx audio outs, i.e. one for each FM repeater, or simplex frequency, plus some SSB signals it could be fun.

Pricing wise the Crimson isn't ridiculous. The SDR HW parts alone for my setup wasn't too far from what the Crimson is selling for. But it would require coming up with amplifiers and its associated Rx/Tx switching to get from the +10dBm region to something useful. In my case I just went with my long ago amortized transverters and brick amplifiers.

And like all SDRs, "it's only software" (the three most understated words I know of today) that is required to make it play for what we do in amateur radio land...

So now all we need is a
moderate cost Transverter project to make this a reality for
 all. :)

I would not give up any
performance just to get more BW.
 Yes 2M-70cM
would be nice for moon bounce and vhf-uhf contesting but we
can use HP transverters with Hermes currently.
Not keen on rack mount, maybe if my shack was
not so cluttered and packed with STUFF I could find room for
 a rack.
