I also do long time (10 hrs or more) acquisitions of pulsar data and have written a KK variant program that does write an up to several terabyte file directly to disk.  I’d be happy to share it with you if you like but the KK program doesn’t display the recorded data as it’s being recorded as is done in the RA utility.  It is necessary to perform offline analysis of the huge data file in this case.  The KK acquisition program directly records IQ data from the hardware to disk without doing any DSP on it in the program; the wideband display works during the acquisition but gives you only snapshot views of the data as it is being recorded because the wideband data stream is not contiguous.
