[hpsdr] PS and Mic Level

I'm trying to track down why PS correction makes my IMD worse.

My particular mic requires about 30dB of 'MIC' gain to drive the PS algorithm to converge on a result. With the gain set this high a 'quiet room' to 'peak voice' results in about 40dB difference. Put another way, when monitoring my TX using 'DUP' my peak RF to noise floor TX range is about 40dB. Is this a typical number that others see that are using PS successfully?

PS typically degrades my IMD about 15dB. From about 40-45db to 25-30. I have recently added 1 Farad of capacitance to the 50 VDC supply and increased ICq 2.5 times with no increase in performance.

Amp view shows wild swings at the bottom end of the range.

Tks,
John
