Right!
Negative feedback of amps improves stability, flat frequency response and
linearity, but reduces gain. The necessity of this 'brake' depends on the
device's feedback capacitance Crs. While the 'old' RF MOS devices like
SD2932 have a typical reverse Crs of 18 pF, modern LDMOS with the same power
output offer only 0.8 pF! Among other benefits these modern LDMOS devices
provide at least 10 dB more gain over more than 5 octaves.
