[hpsdr] Hermes update with 5W amp ?

Hi,

Hermes Lite is using the cable modem chip AD9866 for DDC/DUC. This chip is
one of the very rare positive aspects of PLC, hi. Comparing the ENOBs
(Effective Number of Bits) of Hermes 16 bit, Hermes 14 bit and Hermes Lite
you’ll experience reduction of dynamic of only 12 to 7 dB. Of course you can
determine this exactly, but I doubt that you’ll recognize even in your
location the difference in daily band operation. DL9UFB has built the new
Hermes Lite 2.0 from scratch and operates it in very hard RF environment
without any issues.
The Hermes Lite 2.0 as a single board design using economic components, is a
very clever and reliable approach, accepting advanced HPSDR operation
software -PS capable - and unbeatable in prize. Please see

Hi Glen,

Going back from 16bit to 12 bit will be a to big step back for me.

The 16-bit hermes (with Alex preselection) is 'just good enough' in my
situation because

of some locale very strong signals, that come and go, into the RF spectrum.
