Hi,

ok I tried it again minutes ago...

1.
checked my network settings from the PC 192.168.10.3 / 255.255.255.0
Disable the 2nd Network (WiFi)
Disable the Firewall
2.
checked the IP from the board 192.168.10.2
3.
start PowerSDR, works fine
4.
switched of the PC and the board.
5.
restart both, first I start the board, then the PC
6.
start the Programmer as Admin and press "Discover"
7.
Board comes back with MAC, right IP and Version 3.1
8.
Load again the rbf from Github and press Program
9.
In status Monitor I see first erasing, programming 20% to 100% and then the board starts again and disover...
10.
It is the Version 3.1 shown!!!
11.
Switch of the Board, switch on, discover... Version 3.1 is shown

I can see that there is traffic on the network LED so there is an DATA transfer to the board.
OK start again with a try for Bootlader

6.
set J12 (yes, I measured also the Jumper, works, hihi)
7.
start Bootloader as Admin
8.
press "Test for bootloader"
Nothing is happening!!!
The board is not answering...

If I read right Bootloader use UDP, so no reason why I got no information from the board
The Programmer use RAW packages to get the MAC, that works but no success after writing.

Why is the Bootloader not getting the MAC Address?
No switches, direct wiring, different cables tested!

Hi guys,

Maybe that's a little deficit that the firmware link (only) for Hermes on the openHPSDR site is not updated, but there is also a link to https://github.com/TAPR/ on that site.
Again both tools - HPSDR Programmer and HPSDR Bootloader - can be used to change to Hermes v3.3 rbf and work.

Hi Kjell,

Yes, I too ALWAYS use bootloader mode to change firmware in any of the OpenHPSDR/Apache Labs platforms, as like you, I find the various HPSR Programmer programs much less reliable. Bootloader always works simply and flawlessly.

I can’t speak to the OpenHPSDR site links. I personally always search for any software/firmware versions on the GitHub repository.

If you do use the download button the file size will be much smaller and the file will not be the file you intended to download. Several people have fallen prey to that trap before; just thought I’d remind you about it.
