[hpsdr] Question(s) on the DFC board

Enjoyed the video very much.
So in application, to do radio work, will the DFC board connect to a Hermes or Hermes II
board or ANAN transceiver loaded with new “simple” FPGA software?  

Will all the ANAN transceivers be compatible or just the latest batch (7000/8000)?

Do you envision developing or hacking a new lower cost Hermes type board that will handle 
the transmit and receive duties, with less components and smaller FPGA etc?
