[hpsdr] Question(s) on the DFC board

VAC (Muzy or VB Audio) does not run over the internet. It is only for
creating virtual patch cables between software applications on your PC. And
the "VAC" button/interface on PowerSDR is a bit of a misnomer. It will
support *any* audio device, virtual or otherwise.

Unless and until we see a true client/server implementation for openHPSDR
radios (this includes but is not limited to Apache radios), solutions for
remote operations will remain a spit and bailing wire affairs.

I use RDP (with audio) over a router based VPN to access my main station
PC. It's complicated to set up but easy to use. Other than about 1 second
of latency it's like sitting at my main console at home and it give me
access to my remote amp, DDUtil and audio mixer controls. Since my audio is
already virtualized using Voicemeeter Banana, I simply add the RDP remote
audio devices onto a Voicemeeter mixer channel. For PTT I use VOX or MOX
with PowerSDR mRX PS.

I have tried the remotehams.com software and it works quite well, but you
do not have full control over PowerSDR and cannot see your spectral
displays. On the main station (server) PC you would set it up as follows:

For CAT control including PTT, rcforb -- virtual serial port -- PowerSDR.
For audio, rcforb -- VAC (Muzy or VB Audio) -- PowerSDR. The rcforb remote
client supports hardware PTT via keyboard or a serial port attached
physical switch.

You could use something like RDP, Teamviewer or the like to supplement
rcforb.

Other people use combinations of things like VNC and Skype. Again, it would
be something like Skype -- VAC -- PowerSDR to move the audio at the station
end.
