[hpsdr] [EXTERNAL] RE: Hercules Amp Help finding Parts

Frank,
If the 500v and 1000v parts are the same size as each other, and mount in
the pad space provided on the board, I'd go for the 1000v parts. RF and all
that, you know. But I gather that you are in the RF generating industry
(engineering manager at a licensed broadcast station, at least TV) and
likely know that already. I wish I had more info for you, but I acquired my
Hercules from someone local who had done most of the assembly but didn't
complete commissioning of the amp.

Maybe Tim O'Rourke W4YN has some knowledge. Another possible source is
Isaac Weksler, 4Z1AO. Maybe also Ron Cox W9KFB. My communications with
them were almost a decade ago now! The email that I had for Gerd was first
initial, period, lastname at (hiscompanyname.de). Many things change in a
decade.

Thank You.

I have been through these documents. While they are very good for assembly,
they do not have enough detail to order the correct parts. I think that I
have found a spec sheet on the capacitors, but there are differing voltages.
100, 500, 1000 volts - and to add insult, the spec sheet shows that 500V and
1000V caps are green.

I was hoping to hear from Gerd as the email address that was in those
documents is bouncing.

I suggest that you visit
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__openhpsdr.org_wiki_index
.php-3Ftitle-3DHERCULES&d=DwICAg&c=QvQrCjPtO9cKGOfGYlNgXQ&r=Fd1hhOY8nJ1RVp5R

v93EgWWZ0mCWDYnXFBvpjg&e= , where you will find lots of info on the
Hercules. In particular, the manual linked to there,
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.needles.de_HPSDR_HER
CULES-2DAssembly.pdf&d=DwICAg&c=QvQrCjPtO9cKGOfGYlNgXQ&r=Fd1hhOY8nJ1RVp5RgmI
gmg&m=CqqJCeojScyuTBl9XigApxmTTZ_-fz_C8K7I0UM0Fso&s=UUTN9JMbZ-3jRfvcZUNFX0ac
2kGOHXoEgDo3sjhwC1c&e= , contains the part values for those caps. Looks
like silver mica caps. I can look at mine. The caps are all green surface
mount. At the end of the document is an organized BOM. Unfortunately, no
actual part numbers from any named supplier. Perhaps you can contact Gerd
and see if he can supply that information.

PS: My atlas bus system with a Hercules, mostly built (the Hercules is
built...) is available, but not cheaply. I'd rather donate it to a
university ham club than scrap anything like that...
