Pete,
It's how I run, and have run Atlas since Excalibur came out.  As I said 'IIRC', which includes 'YMMV' as well.

But I could well be misremembering reasons.  I’m 70 at the end of the month.  I'd hate to think my memory was that fragile, but I'd be the last to know, right?

Interesting. I don’t recall coming across that advice before. I currently have Excalibur in the leftmost slot right next to the power supply. I haven’t noticed anything obviously wrong with that configuration but I’ll shuffle boards around tomorrow and see what happens.
