[hpsdr] FPGA?

Rick,

Thanks.

I have already replaced the "25" in the broken newest Hermes board from Apache with a matching "25". I plan to replace the "40" in each of the two other boards with "40"s. They are already on order.

Mostly, I was curious why the difference. I did not read closely enough at what Apache was offering when I bought their last offering of Hermes at cost. I would not have bought had I realized it was not the same as the two boards I already had. But it works now and I do not plan to use multiple receivers anyway.

All three boards died at the same time, along with numerous other items in the shack. I suspect an EMP from close by lightning - either that or gremlins.

Hi Don,

I agree with Helmut, the amount of LE's will determine what functionality
you will get out of the Hermes board. The '25' was used in the ANAN-10E
and will limit the number of receivers you can run. I believe it is a max of
2. The '40' can fit more depending on whether you run protocol1 or 2.

Also the firmware for the '25' (ANAN-10E) is written to support a 14 bit ADC
-vs- a 16 bit. It may work disregarding the extra dynamic range. But if you
decide to go that route I will help you if you need to come up with a firmware
that supports the 16 bit ADC.

Mouser has the '40' in stock @ $176, the '25' Not in stock @ $96.
How do you plan on physically replacing the FPGA?
