Hi all,
My apologies for following up my own message, but I'm trying to make a
decision on a PS.

It looks as if the power supplies that have been discussed in detail, the
pcoPSU's, don't have a lot of capacity at -12V, although they've got plenty
of capacity at the other voltages. I like the idea of using these PSU's,
since I have lots of 13.8V running around the shack, and dislike the idea of
another 120V power cord and supply.

Can some of the other designers comment on how much -12V other boards are
likely to use?

Hm, the 60W picoPSU seems to be rated for 50ma at -12V. Even the 120W
unit has a max rating of 100ma.

I'd have sworn I'd posted the answer to this before, but can't seem
      to find it.

Current draw I'm seeing with Ozy/Janus playing radio with an SDR 1000
is:

      +12v: 200 ma
      +5v: 180 ma
      -12v: 70 ma

      Regards,

      Bill

I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts about:

(1) Over voltage protection.
(2) Short circuit protection.
(3) Voltage sequencing.

I usually don't give much thought when I plug another card into my PC's bus
(crossing my fingers on more expensive cards such as Delta 44), but I am a
little concerned with a $300+ investment on the Atlas bus.

Is there any possibility of damage to Ozy/Janus if one voltage should fail
and the others come up OK?

Hi all,

I am very happy to tell you that Ozy and Janus just arrived this morning
in my french QTH, in excellent condition, nice packaging.
So thank you for everyone involved in this project, I remember one year
ago the tests with Xylo and Wolfson ADC... and I am now very impatient
to connect the cards with the good "old SDR-1000" !!

Once more, thank you, wonderful job!!

Hi all

My boards also arrived safely in France, many thanks to all involved.

Regarding getting them up and running, is anyone working on a Linux based
solution or do I have to go and buy a copy of windows?

As far as using them is concerned I have seen G3UKB's erlink project (which
looks very interesting but still seems to be a work in progress), there is
also gnuradio and dttsp, but I am not too clear on whether I will be able to
get the USB interface up and running and load the FPGA under linux.

Anyone tried it?

regards

Help! Is there anyone on the list that has a FST3253M fast bus switch in
there junk box? Or could recommend a UK supplier that has them in stock.

I need one to rebuild the TX chain on my homebrew SDR-1000 near clone. My
usual supplier ?Farnell? is quoting a 21 week lead time!

All expenses covered via PayPal.

Eagerly awaiting Oxy & Janus, they must be very close to arriving here in
the UK.

Janus and Ozy just arrived in Italy. Well packed, no problems. Excellent
work!

Now studying how to assemble the system. My QSD front end is waiting
on the workbench to start a test session.

I don't know much about the Janus and Ozy boards, and haven't looked at
their design closely because the high speed digital design is well beyond my
modest electronics understanding, but as far as I know the -12V is not used
in as a power source for digital logic, but as a power source or reference
for op-amps and maybe ADC/DAC.

My wild out-of-the-blue guessing is that 100ma is about all you should need
for -12V voltage rail. So I suspect the PicoPSU power supply should be
adequate power handling, but I won't guess on its noise level.

For those of you tracking the Janus/Ozy Santa, he came to Charleston today.
Now, I need to build the Atlas kit that also arrived.

Oh yea, also figure out how the software/firmware works. But that should be
a piece of cake for a hardware guy like me.... Terry WB4JFI

Well, as long as we're at it, he passed through OK on Friday. Unlike the
experience of some of the others on this list, my package arrived in
excellent shape.

Now I've run out of excuses! Time to start cookin'!
