Hi Folks
I have done something similar to what is being discussed.
I started with a pair of kits from ECROS Technology
instead of starting from scratch. I wanted a very simple
and easy to assemble low cost PS for one of my Atlas/J/O
setups. I was using two Bench supplies and I need them for
other toys. The two models I started with were the
Mini-PSU model. A simple Series regulator fed from a
wall warthog transformer.
The info on them is available at this link http://www.ecrostech.com/General/MiniPsu/index.htm
I paid about $15 for them if I remember correctly.
In light of the discussions on this reflector I am researching some suitable simple Crowbar circuits
to add additional protection in case of a power surge. I currently run them on a small
AC Line UPS / Conditioner unit from Office Depot.
For the Negative supply I use a surplus wall PS with a simple zener regulator ckt.
Looking forward to the discussions this evening on Team speak.
