[hpsdr] Atom Mobile Power Supply

Tim,

If you're interested in mobile as in automobile, you can see some
examples at mp3car.com. Some have features you may not need for HPSDR
like shutdown controllers that automatically shut the OS down before
powering off and things like that. They typically tolerate automotive
voltage swings. What I don't know about at all is how much rf noise
they generate. Most users are interested in affects on their stereo
sound and not noise in the hf region. I have a dc-dc supply for a
mini-itx board I use for GPS and moving-map navigation. I don't think
the processor has enough horsepower for PowerSDR so I haven't tried it.
I'm a little pressed for time now to try running my Mercury system off
it soon and even if I did, I think it has been superseded by a newer model.

mp3car.com has an online store as well as a very active forum of people
interested in computers for their cars. They sell small LCDs that are
12VDC. Most discussion on the forums is about 7 or 8 inch diagonal which
is popular for in-dash use. I have a 10" LCD monitor I bought off eBay
that is 12VDC (supposedly doesn't require regulated power, but not sure
I'd trust that too far). The mp3car forum also has users of the Intel
mini-ITX boards as well as a lot of others so it may be a resource for
other computer related issues. As on most forums, the experience level
of members varies from experts to novices and worse and so can the advice.

I have no financial interest in mp3car.com, but I have been a forum
member for a few years and bought an item or two from their store.
