[hpsdr] Hermes ?

I was about the write about the same thing.  That people who claim to
hate computers really only hate MS Windows.  They hate having the
computer exposed to them.

I just bought small Atom powered motherboard (It's $80 with CPU and
6.5 inches square)  and it will be wall mounted up in the attic. It's
job is to tend some receivers and send data over Ethernet.  (Placement
in Attic shortens coax feed line length dramatically)
That is another advantage of SDR, the RF part of the radio is small
and can be placed close to the antenna, far from operating position.
Cheap Cat-6 cable has 1Ghz bandwidth for moving data.  So while there
is good argument for building computer into the radio there is also
good argument for building the computer into the house and the RF
stuff into the antenna and the operator position "wherever".

Either way, I agree the goal should be to make the computer "disappear".
