[hpsdr] new 100W AMP from Germany on eBay

Mark

I'm beginning to wonder if we're looking at the same page on eBay! The page I get when I click on the link in the original email shows me the $117 flat rate. If I look at the "details" it mentions nothing about VAT and says that this is the rate to UK. If it's only coming from Germany that is VERY expensive. You may be right about the VAT as I don't know if suppliers within the EU have to charge VAT at source. This is not mentioned in the advert and I've never bought from EU suppliers. If not and VAT is charged on entry, the whole cost goes through the roof.

You are correct in that the Communications Concepts PA doesn't do any LP filter switching, that is the purpose of Alex. Whereas Hercules is designed to work with Penelope and understands the switching protocols. However, having gone down the Pennywhistle/PA/Alex route it would be financially crippling for me as a pensioner to change horses now.

It is a good looking unit and if I was starting from scratch with HPSDR it would represent the obvious way to go. But at this late stage, with me going blue in the face from holding my breath for Alex, it is not for me.

Cheers
