[hpsdr] Can this be added to Penelope docs?

Hi, everyone --

I got Penelope working on SSB tonight, thanks to a search of the list archive. The information below was posted to the list back in January, by Bill KD5TFD. Is it possible to get this information added to (1) the Penelope manual, and (2) the Penelope troubleshooting wiki page? I think it would be a great help to those who have the Penelope / Magister combination, and who may not think to look at the Magister docs. (In my case, Magister had been working fine for a few months, so I didn't think to suspect it when Penny didn't work.)

I'd be glad to add the info to the wiki, if granted access, but I don't have the software to update the PDF manual.

Thanks and 73,

Text of message:

The mic is not working because the I2C bus from Magister is not
connected to the Atlas bus by default. This causes the
initialization of the codec on Penelope to fail, and no
initialization means no mic.

Easy to fix - shorting blocks need to be added to two jumpers on
Magister On my Rev A board (pre production, but I believe the
production boards are pretty much the same) the jumpers are to the
left of U1 when looking at the top of the board with the Atlas
connector to the bottom. The silkscreen says I2C to Atlas and the
jumpers are labeled SCL and SDA. Horizontally adjacent pins should
be shorted by a shorting block. If you don't have shorting blocks on
hand I'd suggest scrounging some off old PC cards.

Cheers,

Bill (kd5tfd)
