G'day,
The Mercury card arrived today and it was time to play with HPSDR. The current
system consists of Atlas, Ozy and Mercury.
I downloaded and installed the current PowerSDR and Kiss versions from the
OperHPSDR website. Initially nothing was going to work until I also installed
Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 on a Windows XP box.
Eventually both, Kiss and PowerSDR started working. Whilst pushing both
applications through its paces, I noticed that the signal level indication on
the S-Meter and panorama display on PowerSDR shows -70dBm without pre-
amplifier switched off and antenna disconnected, whilst Kiss shows a more
realistic level of about -120dBm.
Not having any experience with either applications, I'm at a loss finding an
explanation. Perhaps I missed a setting in PowerSDR?
Also, is there a way of listening to the audio on the PC just with USB
connected? I alway had the impression that data is send via USB, similar to
the USRP, and data processing was done on the PC. It took me some time to
realize that I had to plug the head phone into the Mercury PC or alternatively
use an audio cable connecting it to the PC.
How does this work with Metis?
