There is a new version of KISS Konsole available.

This has many new features including;

- VOX
- Bass cut EQ on transmit
- Speech Processor
- Noise Gate
- Mic/Line in selection

I find the speech processor particularly effective.  It's based on a new 
idea from Peter, G3PLX, and increases the mean level of the transmit audio 
without adding harmonic distortion. It can also be used on AM and FM.

To set up the mic gain turn the speech processor off and adjust the mic gain 
so that the Clip 'LED' occasionally lights on speech peaks. If you then turn 
the speech processor on the compression level is correctly calibrated in dB.

The speech processor is actually in the mic DSP chain at all times. If 
turned off if will just catch the occasional speech peak - hence the need to 
set the mic gain.  This insures that you can never exceed the power level 
you have set and overdrive a subsequent amplifier etc.

Please note that to run the USB version of KK you need to have previously 
successfully run a version of PowerSDR in order that the required drivers 
are already loaded.
