Thank you for that.
The problem is that in the Xcode hookup, I don't have the "final decision" - I am notified that the cert is bad and not offered the opportunity to accept it anyway. Hence my question regarding Xcode.
Do you know of a way around this with the Xcode SVN connection, or were you just making a general statement on the subject?

G'day Mark,
what this usually means is that the website's security certificate is "self-
signed" and not through an "official" certification authority. Anyone can
create self-signed certificates and hence its authenticity can't be verified.
The browser generates the "This Connection is Untrusted" warning message as a
precaution to alert users to this fact, the final decision whether to trust
this website is yours.
